SHOWING CONCERN AND SUPPORT FOR
WOMEN’S RIGHTS IN THE GAMBIA
About CFW
We are a proud, Gambian-registered organisation with over 30 passionate volunteers on the ground in The Gambia. Together, we work to protect women and girls from harmful practices while creating opportunities for education, safety, and long-term independence. Through community-led projects and practical support, we’re building stronger, more resilient futures for women and their families.
WHEN YOU EMPOWER A WOMAN, YOU CHANGE A NATION.
SUPPORT, EDUCATE AND EMPOWER
Through our expert programs and advocacy, we provide practical help and vital information to empower women and girls to take control of their futures. From school outreach and police skills training to counselling and community education, we ensure that every woman, child and organisation we reach gains the confidence and resources they need to thrive.
CREATE SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES
Poverty in The Gambia continues to hold women back. We work directly with our communities to provide what they need most — tools to grow food, resources to start businesses, and long-term support. By strengthening families and improving local livelihoods, we create safer, healthier, more sustainable environments for women and girls.
END Harmful traditional practices
Harmful traditional practices remain one of the most pressing challenges facing females in The Gambia. An estimated 73% of Gambian women and girls aged 15 to 49 have undergone Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), while around 51% of girls under 14 are still affected. We are fighting to change these statistics.
